One-stop battery pack testing system

Visitors to Automotive Testing Expo looking for battery testing systems should stop by the booth of CAMA. The hardware of the system consists of a bidirectional DC power supply, a test bench and a data acquisition system. A Siemens industrial host computer system connects these together with the test devices and unit under test through a communication bus (CAN/LAN/RS485/RS232) and controls the test automation.
The bidirectional DC power supply has an accuracy of up to ±0.1% in both DC and AC mode. A National Instruments CDAQ data acquisition module ingests the data from the various sensors, including temperature, pressure, voltage, current, digital and pulse, at a maximum sampling frequency of 250kHz.
To communicate with the battery management system, CAMA’s testing setup uses a high-speed intelligent CANbus connection. The whole system runs on software developed with NI LabVIEW for Windows 7.
