Vibration test acceleration
Vibration Research

Failures due to fatigue typically generate over sustained periods, and vibration test engineers must determine the longevity of a device in a typical field environment. A device may withstand hundreds to thousands of hours of use, so engineers require a vibration testing method to assess a product over many hours without expending significant time to do so.

Vibration test acceleration allows test engineers to evaluate a product after years of service in a fraction of the time. To do so, engineers seek to create a vibration test profile comparable to the field. Likeness to the real world ensures that the device under test can withstand the various excitations it will experience in its lifetime. An innovative approach to replicating an end-use environment is to use recorded waveforms. There are several techniques where real-world vibration can be replicated using recorded data. The result is a vibration test profile that closely reflects or is equivalent to the end-use environment.

Vibration Research will discuss several methods of test profile generation from recorded data, including industry standards for random and shock vibration and an innovative approach to sine-on-random testing. Attendees will gather information about the procedures necessary for the successful replication of waveforms for accelerated vibration testing. A demonstration on an industry-leading software platform will be available.
