Angular rate sensors for crash testing
TE Connectivity - Booth 13039

TE Connectivity (TE) is introducing a full suite of angular rate sensors to complement its
accelerometers for safety testing. The company is offering its model 620, single-axis rate measurements in angular velocity ranges from ±500°/sec to ±24,000°/sec and with a bandwidth of 0-2000Hz. Designed for in-dummy and head-form testing, the model 620 is cased in shock resistant packaging to ensure accurate
measurements during critical crash testing. The model can be packaged in a triaxle configuration using a TE mounting block, or alternatively for testing all three rate axes in one simple rugged package. TE has also recently released two unique 6-DOF (six degree-of- freedom) sensors ideal for automotive safety and biomechanics testing. The model 633 and model 634 6-DOF sensors include three angular rate outputs and three DC accelerometer outputs in one small package. These enhancements in sensor technology enable the safety instrumentation engineer to gather even more accurate data required in typical pedestrian impact and dummy instrumentation rollover testing.
