High-definition fiber-optic strain and temperature sensing enables new test and measurement capabilities for automotive lightweighting and electrification. Luna’s ODiSI (Optical Distributed Sensor Interrogator) measures actual strain or temperature all along the length of an all-dielectric fiber-optic sensor. Flexible fiber-optic sensors are small, lightweight and purely passive. Capable of measuring thousands of points per meter of sensing fiber, the ODiSI is ideal for structural test applications, thermal mapping of battery cells, modules and packs, and enhancing processes such as thermoplastic welding, adhesive bond line curing and resin infusion optimization.
