SHOW LIVE DAY 1: Konrad Technologies and VI-grade announce new collaborative ADAS/AV test method

Konrad Technologies (Booth 1324) has used Day 1 of Automotive Testing Expo Europe 2019 to announce a brand-new test method it has co-developed with simulator manufacturer VI-grade for verifying the functionality of ADAS and autonomous driving features prior to the commencement of drive tests.

With the ‘DIL with Sensor Fusion Test’, a VI-grade Driver-in-Motion 150 simulator fitted with sensors from Konrad simulates objects around the vehicle in real time before looping the sensor output back into the simulation software to close the execution loop. This enables ADAS and autonomous driving functionality to be tested safely in a lab environment, adding driver reaction to the test parameters for a more comprehensive test that can then be compared with drive test data for optimization cycles.

“Four years ago, we demonstrated how sensor tests can be combined with HIL tests to validate the performance of multisensor configurations with ADAS algorithms,“ said Michael Konrad, CEO of Konrad Technologies. “Today, together with VI-grade, we will show how the sensor test can be extended so that ADAS functionality can be evaluated and optimized to a higher degree in the lab before beginning road tests.“

The new test method is being demonstrated at the VI-grade (Booth AV6030) in the adjoining Autonomous Vehicle Technology Expo 2019, located in Hall 6 of the Stuttgart Messe, today, tomorrow and on Thursday
