Testing fuel cell technology

The Edag Group is the largest independent engineering service provider to the mobility industry. With more than 8,600 experts worldwide, the company offers engineering services in the vehicle engineering, electric/electronics and production solutions segments.
In addition to the electrification of vehicles with batteries, fuel cell technology is a promising technology for the alternative drive of the future. Edag has recently worked for a German OEM on the integration development of a fuel cell drive system in a premium vehicle. It was also responsible for the structural integration of the drive system in small series production.
Adequate test systems play a decisive role in the consistent development of fuel cell technology. Edag Test Systems has many years’ experience in the construction of component test systems for fuel cells, and has developed a modular test platform that enables the flexible implementation of component test stands such as DC-DC converters, boost DC-DC converters, compressors, cathode subsystems, gas pumps and electrical drives. The basic modules of its test bench, cooling module and power supply modules can be combined with another power supply, load and drive modules as well as evaporators to provide different types of functionality. This enables fuel cells to be tested for their functionality, durability and efficiency.
Other examples of technology in the field of e-mobility include test systems for onboard chargers, power electronics and inverter test facilities, engine emulation, battery cooling/temperature control and CO2-based coolant conditioning.
