AR Brown will show two new mobile test rigs at Automotive Testing India: the 4activeSB surfboard platform and the 4activePA pedestrian articulated platform.

The 4activeSB mobile test rig can be easily transported. System installation is performed by two people in about half an hour. The system is battery powered, with a minimum operating time of 10 hours at low temperatures. 4activeSB is for testing with pedestrian targets: articulated, static, deer and cyclist. It is possible to test longitudinal and crossing scenarios.

Key features include triggers via light barriers or GPS/IMU (Novatel, OXTS, RaceLogic, Genesys, iMar); easy operation via WLAN with laptop or control panel; automatic triggering of the dummy; and correction of velocity during GPS testing. It is battery-powered – it is possible to test for a whole day – and has a 230V power supply.

4activePA is even more similar to humans, and the movement of the legs is more realistic. Additional options for the dummy are moving arms and a moving head. The dummy is detectable by radar, infrared and camera sensors, and the micro-Doppler spread is humanlike. The 4activePA dummy is based on a modular system, needing only a few minutes to exchange damaged parts. Crashes up to 60km/h are possible without damage to the test vehicle or dummy.

Key features of the system are that it is waterproof in rainy conditions – application temperature ranges from -5°C to 40°C; it has no hard impact points, preventing damage to test vehicles; it is battery powered – allowing you to test with one battery for an entire day; it has automatic triggering with 4activeSB or manual operation with remote control; Euro NCAP standard tests or optional programmed tests are included; and it has a modular system – hip, center tube, legs, electronic unit and battery are easy to change.
