ECU testing with HIL
A&D Technology

To improve ECU testing, A&D is introducing the Helios HILS (hardware-in-the-loop system). The company touts a number of major benefits for the new system. For one, the Helios system is MATLAB and Simulink compatible, so users have the ability to compile and run Simulink plant models on the real-time Linux operating system. Each of these composed models can interface with the ECU under test, through the hardware I/O integration.

Another benefit is that the system includes a load box that stores actual ECU loads, such as injectors and throttle bodies. This allows the user to directly connect any loads to the HILS by connecting to the load box, and use actual loads for testing.

A third notable feature is that the HILS can take direct current measurements from injectors – both for direct and port injection. It can easily switch between the two through software with no need for external shunt resistance circuits.

Finally, the Helios HILS can also take direct measurements of solenoid current. It features an integrated power supply and integrates with A&D’s negative pressure box for easy altitude simulation.
