Battery pack intrusion testing
Oilgear Towler GmbH

To be able to thoroughly test the reinforced side sills protecting the batteries in EVs, Oilgear Towler has upgraded its side intrusion test system with improved actuators that are capable of pushing and pulling forces of 300kN. To support the stronger actuator, the machine frame has also been redesigned to provide higher stiffness.

Designed for static strength testing, Oilgear’s machine exceeds the requirements of FMVSS214 while retaining a compact footprint. This simultaneously future-proofs it and makes it suitable for out-of-range testing for development purposes.

As with all Oilgear test benches, the new setup majors on usability, with motorized Z-positioning and the line laser installed in the impactor to simplify setup. In addition, the electric drive is silent and requires minimal maintenance. This fully electric package is available as an upgrade to existing systems or as turnkey, standalone test bench.
